Fill-er-up!

Before I started playing around with designs and advertisements on the computer, I decided to choose an activity in which I had to draw 12 different sized rectangle on a large drawing sheet and fill in the rectangles with geometric shapes (Design Index Basics, p. 71). I wanted to fill in space first on paper and then choose something to do on the computer. I loved art in high school and really loved shading different drawings in, so that is where I wanted to start. I took basic geometric shapes and made them 3-D and shaded a few in. At this point, I was just experimenting.

After I looked at this, I decided I could take it a step further. In my next composition, I tried to "blow up" some of the images and only focus on a part of the figure in the rectangle. I also combined some of the images together.
I did a lot more shading and my hand smudged most of my images. The whole side of my hand and my shirt were covered in pencil, but I had a lot of fun doing this and it really made me miss taking an art class. I forgot how much I loved art!
